3 Things To Do With Your Kids This Summer

  • July 20, 2021
  • We all just made it through the most difficult year of our lives, and let’s face it, we’re all itching to get out of the house…especially those of us with little ones!!
  • We created a quick guide with fun activities to do in New Jersey with your kids before the summer ends, take a look!

Fosterfields living historical Farm in Morristown-

  • Experience farm living as it was done over 100 years ago at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm. At this 213.4-acre New Jersey and National Register Historic Site, you can enjoy many of the daily farm activities that took place in the 1920s. On the farm, visit the farm animals, witness the farmer plowing or planting of the fields using antique machinery, and help perform daily tasks, such as collecting eggs, grinding corn to feed the chickens, and cleaning the harness. Visit the authentic 1920s Farmhouse where the farm foreman once lived, and compare it to the 1854 Gothic revival-style mansion, The Willows that was once the home to the elite Foster family, the previous owners of Fosterfields. Strike up a conversation with one of the docents dressed in period clothing to learn more details about the lifestyle of those who lived and worked on the farm. Tour the interactive Transportation Exhibit filled with antique automobiles. They even have baby animals.....yes that's right...BABY ANIMALS!!
  • There is a calendar of special programs and events for everyone to enjoy! For more information, visit their website.

Warwick Drive-In Movie Theater

Pack up your whole family ( including your dog!) and cozy up in the back of your car for a fun way to watch the movies of the summer at the Warwick drive-in movie theater, just a stones throw from the New Jersey/New York border. Owned by Beth and Ernest Wilson, celebrating over 20 years of continuing the family tradition of owning drive-in theaters started by Beth's father, Frank Seeber.

Originally, Warwick Drive-In Theater was built in 1950 by Charles & Mary Finger in partnership with George & Adeline Miller on 5 acres of land owned by Paul & Emma Miller. George & Adeline sold out to Russ & Gloria Eurich. It had one 70' x 40' screen and parking for 350 cars. Soon, the Fingers bought out the business from the Eurichs. It was run successfully by the Finger family for 25 years.

The Drive in theater makes a family movie night seamless, fun and easy. Just pull up, buy your tickets, and drive through to choose the best spot! We definitely suggest you get there early to get your viewing spot nice and cozy with blankets, lawn chairs and snacks!…..what is a movie without snacks?!? ( They even have a snack stand! )

What movie will you guys go to see here this summer?!? Tag us in your family adventures!! @LittleNestPortraitsRidgewood

Take a quick trip to Asbury Park

  • For those of us who have grown up in New Jersey, we have seen Asbury Park do a complete transformation to what our parents knew it as. The city of Asbury Park has created a beautiful beach front town for everyone to enjoy, especially those of us with children. Take a look at the top 3 things to do with your kids in Asbury-
  • 1.Asbury Splash Park
  • Kids bored from sitting on the beach? Not to worry, there’s a Splash Park right on the Boardwalk! Keep cool and let your kids run wild through all of the sprinklers, water buckets and more.
  • Pro tip- It’s also a great way to clean the kids off after the beach before getting back into the car!
  • 2. Walk the boardwalk
  • The boardwalk in Asbury is the perfect length to prevent your kids from complaining about walking. It’s full of shops, ice cream, restaurants and even…a retro arcade! ( see for number 3 )
  • Don’t miss checking out all of the cool art installations at the carousel at the end of the boardwalk either.
  • 3. Silverbell Retro Arcade
  • An arcade even the parents will like! This cool spot is fitted with retro pinball machines from the 1930’s to the present, and a snack bar.
  • Take a break from the sun and pop on in to play some games and grab a snack.
